The
main mission of ProCura is to promote the integration of broad range
of expertise and facilities among Portuguese research institutions
and universities for the development of functional proteomics technologies.
ProCura
is interested in:
•
Developing a multidisciplinary Portuguese network of excellence
in proteome studies focused on the identification of target proteins
as diagnostic, prognostic and therapeutic tools, as well as, on
the proteome characterization of human cells/tissues and relevant
microorganisms to the human disease or human environment.
• Encouraging interactions among Portuguese institutions and
universities, and perhaps industry, in order to facilitate transfer
of expertise and technologies.
• Creating a Portuguese proteomics informatic system associated
with human disease and microorganisms environment, accessible on-line
via Internet.
• Contributing to the dissemination of update information
of new technologies as rapidly and effectively as possible among
the laboratory members.
• Promoting advanced training in functional genomics and proteomics
in order to improve the technical level of a new generation of Portuguese
researchers in the post-genome era.
• Actively enhancing national and international collaborations
in the network to increase the exchange of useful methodologies
and resources for the development of functional genomic field.
